PS: Here's the PBS link: http://www.pbs.org/thebuddha/

I'm not sure if I'm ready to spend my evening with gere & Buddha, but who knows -
it may be "enlightening" - yuk yuk!

You boys do realize that Buddhism is a religion based on transcendence
of the phenomenal; that it promotes the idea of an afterlife, karma
and alternate universes the doorways to which are the chakras; and
it's goal is for all to become avatars or beings of light who have the
choice of merging into the Divine or coming back to earth to help
others, don't you? That should cause you to change some of your most
cherished Atheist beliefs.

Evolution also selects for cooperation. Simple as that,
no need to drag religious nonsense into it.

You boys? Buddhism is the religious perversion of the original fat jolly man's
message. It's not as sick at the Christian religion's zombie death cult, but it's
certainly got more on the entertainment level. Layers and layers and levels of all
that malarkey piled atop turtles and elephants, or some such creation that was
constructed over many many generations of his followers.

And about that last line in your reply - atheists do not have beliefs. Atheism
means "without god" - look it up. We do not believe in gods. Simple as that. It's
you silly believers that can't get past the idea that there are folks like myself
out here who have no religious beliefs.

Now - can anyone tell me if this documentary is worth investing 2 hours of my time
on? This dolt can't.

True, some show for the Christians to emulate.

Do you think Christians ever watch serious stuff like Animal Planet or
Discovery Channel?

I think the prefer talk shows.

I still think they should watch more science and nature channels.

Wow there, read Journey to the West. Its a very violent story of an
idiot, or ignorant, Buddhist priest who travels with a very violent
slave/disciple. The gods are hypocrits who punish lesser beings for
their transgresions all the while glossing over their own deadly to
human irresponsiblities.
